Learning

Both the educational vision and the curriculum design for Freds Academy Annexe take into account the following points:

  • When we look back on the world of today, the world of 2020 will seem almost unrecognizable.
  • Since the rate of change is quickening, it is essential to maintain flexibility as well as creative thinking.
  • Young people currently have and will continue to have an increased amount of access to information and learning material outside of the classroom setting.

Our Curriculum

We at Freds Academy Annexe believe that our curriculum ought to be well-rounded, comprehensive, and pertinent to the learners and the society.

The primary objective of our teaching and learning is to create opportunities for all of our students to engage in learning in meaningful ways, to do so in a way that is enjoyable and productive, and to do so while simultaneously cultivating the characteristics of self-assured individuals and responsible global citizens.

The curriculum at Freds Academy Annexe is modeled after the National Curriculum, but it also incorporates a variety of supplemental learning opportunities that are designed to enrich and broaden the educational experience of all of our students.

Co-curricular Activities

The school places a strong emphasis on the Co-curricular Activities, particularly in the areas of athletics, music, and theater.

Students are provided with the option to participate in both social and competitive sporting events in a variety of sports. The principle of ‘sport for all’ is utilized in the operation of sporting events, and the participation of more talented athletes in additional coaching sessions, competitions, and games is encouraged.

Additionally, Freds Academy Annexe competes in a number of inter-school athletic competitions. Swimming lessons start at a young age and continue through all the different age categories.

Music Activities

Freds Academy Annexe operates a well-established music program designed to empower and instill discipline in its learners while exposing them to world-standard education in music. We offer classes in Piano, Violin, Guitar, and Recorder.

The school’s musical journey started with the inaugural of two talent camps in August and November of 2015, utilizing borrowed instruments. The objective was to cultivate interest among our learners with the intention of establishing a full-time music program.

Subsequently, we have conducted the talent camp annually every November.
Music instrument classes officially began in the second term of 2019 with an initial enrollment of 22 learners. Since then, we have enrolled numerous learners in Piano, Guitar, and Violin classes.

Since 2019, our music instrument learners have actively participated in the Kenya Music Festivals, progressing to the national level. The school ensures an adequate supply of musical instruments including a grand Piano to facilitate individual practice for each learner.

On 24th April 2024, we achieved a significant milestone in our school’s musical journey, when our inaugural group of learners sat for the Piano Performance Examinations in grade 1 and 2 offered by Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), based in the United Kingdom. All four learners achieved excellent results.

ABRSM provides internationally recognized certification in all aspects of music learning. We take great pride in this accomplishment and remain dedicated to offering opportunities and essential skills to all our learners.
Freds Academy Annexe also offers a diverse range of extracurricular activities for the pupils, including Taekwondo, soccer, Hands on Projects run by the pupils and the Talent Camps that provide a nurturing environment for budding talents to flourish.
